A cleaning service for the South of England

Hello once again everyone. A few days back I made a post about a cleaning service based in south London. Well today I want to go a bit further south still to somewhere that has a special place in my heart – my home town Reading.

In fact, I don’t want to get your hopes up but this is a pretty similar story to the one I went through with you last week. It does however have a different setting so trust me it will still be worth hearing.
Just like everyone else, every now and then I spend some time seeing my parents. This usually happens around birthdays and christmas for most people, but luckily for me, my parents live fairly close by, about 30 miles away so I get to see them more often than most.

The last time I was down I was helping them move out of their house. After 20 years they are finally downsizing, now that it has been a good while since my youngest brother has left the home. Nowadays they really have no need for such a big home, so last year they decided it was time for them to move on, and move into a place that was quite a bit smaller. They decided to stay in Reading, but as you can imagine, moving was still quite a lengthy ordeal.

I don’t know if any of you reading have been through a similar situation, but moving properties after living in your previous home for twenty plus years isn’t an easy job. Especially if you are downsizing, as this inevitably means you will have to throw away quite a large portion of your belongings.

Naturally this causes clutter, and clutter causes mess. At the end of it all, we had finally got all their stuff out of the house, but the result was that the place was dusty and frankly pretty dirty. My parent however, were far too exhausted to do any more work and clean it themselves. We eventually settled on hiring another end of tenancy cleaning service, as I’d had a pretty good experience with one recently, and went for one that served the Reading area. We went with these guys.

Unsurprisingly, they did a pretty damn good job too. We got the seal of approval from the landlord and that is all you can wish for I guess. Either way my parents are happy in their new place, and they know they couldn’t have done it without the help of myself and the Reading end of tenancy cleaners.

Never leave your property in an untidy state

Welcome back everyone. In our first short post I want to take the time to talk to you about something that I believe to be incredibly important. It doesn’t particularly pertain to house improvement per se, but is definitely an important factor when it comes to keeping your house in a good state.

In order for me to convey this idea properly, let me tell about a time when this applied to me. For all of you that are still guessing, what i’m talking about is maintaining a tidy and healthy household. There is no time where this is more important when it comes to the inevitable moment where you have to leave your house. Maybe this will occur when you are selling the family home, or moving in one to start one. Either way, it’s vital that you leave any property that you were living in in a good condition – out of respect for the people that will move in after you, or your landlord that has to find new tenants.

Many years ago, when I was about to move out of my flat in Wimbledon, I really don’t know why, but I completely forgot about this. It wasn’t until a few days before the day when my girlfriend of the time informed me that my flat was still a tip and I hadn’t done anything about it yet. I quickly responded by telling her that it didn’t matter. I remember it specifically, I said, “Don’t worry, the landlord will get someone to do the cleaning. It is his flat and his responsibility after all.”

But she insisted and told me it must have been years since I’d moved out of a flat – which it had. She said that it was entirely my responsibility and if the landlord did have to spend some money on hiring a Wimbledon end of tenancy cleaning service, he would end up taking money out of my deposit, and probably more than the actual cost of the service.

I was in a bit of a pickle here. I needed to tidy the flat, but I literally didn’t have enough time. It was a big place, and I had to spend my only remaining day there packing things into boxes and taking them to my new place. I decided the only course of action I could take would be to call the cleaning service myself and beg for their help. They happily obliged and ended up saving my skin. So folks, don’t finish reading this post without taking the lesson with you. Never leave it until the last minute to clean a property that you are about to vacate.
